Achievements in 2022

More than 120 prizes won by different students of Academy in various Open and Age Group competitions organized at various places in Thane District, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.

A.Kabra
  • Master Aayush Kabra became RUNNER UP in Maharashtra State Selection Under 15 Open FIDE Rating Tournament which was conducted at Amravati, Maharashtra, between 28th to 30th October 2022. He secured 2nd place with the score of 7 points out of 8 Games (6 Wins & 2 Draws). He was unbeaten in the Tournament. Aayush enhanced his FIDE Elo international Rating by 88 Points in this tournament. He was rewarded with a Cash prize of ₹ 2,500/- Beautiful Trophy and Certificate. Master Vedant Dhumne enhanced his rating with 13 points in the same tournament. The tournament was organized by Amravati Chess Academy and conducted by Amravati Chess Association, at Sipna College of Engineering, Amravati. Around 115 players from different districts of Maharashtra participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was ₹ 30,000/-.
  • Master Aayush Kabra secured 2nd place in Under 15 Years Age Group, in “7th N. L. Pandiyar Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2022”. Aayush was rewarded with a beautiful trophy. In addition to this he enhanced his FIDE rating with 66 points. The tournament was organized and conducted by Chess in Lakecity, Udaipur, between 8th to 12th October 2022 at Orbit Resort, Udaipur, Rajasthan. More than 400 players from different states participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was ₹ 15,01,000/-. Master Vedant Dhumne also enhanced his FIDE rating with 50 points in the same tournament. 5 players from academy participated in this tournament. They were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach of Academy, FIDE Instructor & FIDE Arbiter) during the tournament.
A.Gokhale
  • Master Ankur Gokhale became RUNNER UP in 3rd Dombivali Kalyan International Open FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2022. The tournament was organized by Anant Vaze Sangeet Kala and Krida Pratishthan in association with Aryan Institute of Chess Excellence and conducted by Thane District Chess Association, on 13th November 2022, at Navrang Banquets Hall, Kalyan (West), Maharashtra. Ankur was rewarded with a Cash prize of ₹ 20,000/- and a beautiful Trophy. In addition to this he also enhanced his rapid rating with 75 points in this tournament. Ankur scored 8 points with 7 wins and 2 draws out of 9 games. He remained unbeaten in this tournament. He won against Grandmaster Swayams Mishra during 5th game. Master Swanand Datar and Master Aayush Kabra secured 1st and 7th place respectively in Under 14 years age group in the same tournament. Master Soham Joshi, Master Vedant Ashtekar and Master Atharva Gawas secured 5th, 8th and 10th place respectively in Under 16 years age group in the same tournament. All of them were rewarded with trophies. More than 700 players participated in this event.
  • Master Ankur Gokhale Secured 1st place in “Best Maharashtra Players category” in 5th Late Bhartbai Halkude Memorial Classical Rating Chess Tournament 2022, held at Kodre Farms, Sinhagad Road, Pune, between 23rd to 28th May 2022. He was rewarded with Cash Prize of ₹ 7,000/- + Trophy + Certificate. His overall rank was 15th amongst 450+ players from four countries who participated in this tournament. Ankur enhanced his FIDE International Elo Rating by 12 points. He scored 7.5 points out of 10 games (7 wins, 1 Draw & 2 lost). Miss Vibha Navare secured 5th place in “Under 15 Years Girls Category” in the same Tournament. She was rewarded with Trophy. 7 students from our academy - Master Aayush Kabra, Master Swanand Datar, Master Soham Sunil Joshi, Master Vedant Dhumne, Master Vedant Ashtekar, Master Rehaan Patil, Master Rishit Narkhede, achieved FIDE International Rating in this tournament. They were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach of Academy, FIDE Instructor & FIDE Arbiter) and Mr. Rupesh Sawant (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & FIDE Arbiter), during the tournament.
V.Navare
  • Miss Vibha Navare from Our Academy secured 4th place in 16th Late Sou. Meenatai Shirgaonkar Memorial International FIDE Rating Women's Open Chess Tournament 2022. This tournament was organized by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli between 1st to 4th May 2022. This tournament was open for only female players. There was no entry fees taken for this tournament. Total prize fund for this tournament was ₹ 1,00,000/-. Vibha scored 6 points from a total of 8 games (5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss) she played. She. Around 71 players from different states of India, participated in this tournament. Vibha was rewarded with a cash prize of ₹ 6,000/-. In addition to this she enhanced her FIDE rating with 86 points.
Academy
  • The team of Joshi’s Chess Academy secured 4th place in Mumbai Chess Olympiad Team Tournament for Under-15 Years children to celebrate 44th chess Olympiad at Chennai. This tournament was organized by INDIAN CHESS SCHOOL at Anatoly Karpov Chess Club, Russian House, Pedder road, Mumbai, on 3rd July 2022 (Sunday). 20 teams (each team consists of four players) from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and nearby areas participated in this tournament. Team of Joshi’s Chess Academy named as "JCA Warriors" scored 13 points out of 20 games played by four team members in five rounds. Four team members of the academy were Master Devansh Raut (Board No. 1), Master Aayush Kabra (Board No. 2), Master Swanand Datar (Board No. 3), Master Aniruddha Barve (Board No. 4). In addition to this Master Aayush Kabra Secured 2nd Place on Board No.2 and Master Aniruddha Barve Secured 1st Place on Board No.4. Both of team members scored 4.5 each out of 5 games.
Intra-academy
  • The academy successfully organized ‘7th Intra Academy Age group Rapid chess tournament 2022’ on 11th September 2022 (Sunday) at Smt. Savitridevi Thirani Vidya Mandir, Vartak Nagar, Thane (W). This tournament was open for six age groups i.e. under – 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 15 years. Master Medhansh Poojary (Under 7 & 8 Years), Master Srinivasan Dhisan (Under 9 Years), Master Adinath Shastri (Under 10 Years), Master Devansh Raut (Under 11 Years) and Master Vedant Dhumne (Under 15 Years), secured 1st place in their age groups. Total 250 participants from different batches of the academy participated in this event. Total 90 prizes (60 Trophies + 30 Medals) were distributed, which includes 15 prizes (12 Open + 3 for Girls) in each group. All the coaches, students and their parents took great efforts to makes this event successful.
  • The academy successfully organized ‘8th Intra Academy Age group Rapid chess tournament 2022’ on 27th November 2022 (Sunday) at Smt. Savitridevi Thirani Vidya Mandir, Vartak Nagar, Thane (W). This tournament was open for six age groups i.e. under – 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, & 15 years. Master Dhruv Wani (Under 7 & 8 Years), Master Srinivasan Dhisan (Under 9 Years), Master Adinath Shastri (Under 10 Years), Master Sarvesh Shinde (Under 12 Years) and Master Swanand Datar (Under 15 Years), secured 1st place in their age groups. Total 230 participants from different batches of the academy participated in this event. Total 124 prizes (72 Trophies + 52 Medals) were distributed, which includes 4 special prizes + 20 prizes (17 Open + 3 for Girls) in each group. All the coaches, students and their parents took great efforts to makes this event successful.

  • Master Swanand Datar secured 4th place in Under 14 Years Age group of DSO zonal level tournament, conducted at Palghar. Master Aayush Kabra secured 5th place in Under 17 Years Age group in the same tournament. The tournament was organized on 21st December 2022, Wednesday, at Jilha Krida Sankul, Palghar. There were around 65 players in Under 14 years group and 56 players in under 17 years group. Both have qualified for Maharashtra State Selection tournament for Under 14 and 17 years age groups respectively.
  • Master Swanand Datar secured 3rd place in 1251 to 1300 Rating Category, in “5th All India Below 1600 FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2022”. Swanand was rewarded with a cash prize of ₹ 3,500/-. He scored 6 points out of 9 games (5 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses). Swanand enhanced his FIDE rating with 36 points. Master Aayush Kabra and Master Vedant Dhumne secured 6th and 9th place respectively in Under 14 years age group in this tournament. Both were rewarded with trophies. The tournament was organized by Universal Chess Foundation and conducted by Mumbai Suburban District Chess Association, between 23rd to 25th December 2022, at Shahji Raje Krida Sankul, Andheri (West). Around 330 players participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was ₹ 4,00,000/-.
A.gawas
  • Master Atharva Gawas achieved international rating in “Ekagra All India Open FIDE Rating Classical Chess Tournament 2022”. The tournament was organized by Ekagra Chess Academy and conducted by Telangana State Chess Association, between 13th to 17th July 2022 at Sri Kotla Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana. Miss Vibha Navare secured 5th place in “Under 15 Years Girls Category” in this tournament. She was rewarded with Certificate & Trophy. Master Swanand Datar enhanced his rating from 1250 to 1279 (29 points) in the same tournament. Around 550 players from three countries participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was ₹ 11,11,111/-. Seven players from academy participated in this tournament. They were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach of Academy, FIDE Instructor & Arbiter) and Mr. Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & FIDE Arbiter), during the tournament.
J.shah
  • Master Jenil Shah secured 4th place in “1400 to 1700 Rating Category” in Dreamhack Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2022, conducted at Hi-tech Exhibition Center, Hyderabad, on 4th & 5th November 2022. Tournament was organised by Nodwin Gaming, Samay Raina and Chessbase India. Jenil was rewarded with Cash Prize of ₹ 4,000/-. He scored 6 points out 9 games with 4 wins, 4 draws and only 1 loss. He had a draw against WIM Savitha Shree B (Bronze medalist of FIDE Women`s World Rapid Championship 2022) in round 3. Around 400 players participated in this tournament, which includes around 40 titled players.
