Achievements in 2017
- More than 65 prizes won by different students of Academy in various Open and Age Group competitions organized at various places in Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.
- Master Parth Dixit enhanced his Elo rating from 1112 to 1188 (76 points) in 2nd Reliance Home Finance Maharashtra State Open FIDE Rating tournament 2017. The tournament was jointly organized by Dahisar Sports Foundation and Universal Chess Foundation and conducted by Mumbai Subarban District Chess Association, between 14th to 19th April 2017 at Dahisar Sports Foundation, C.S. Road, Dahisar (East), Mumbai. Around 250 players from different states participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 3,00,000/-.
- Master Parth Dixit secured 4th rank in Under 12 years Category in 2nd KTBS International FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2017. Parth was rewarded with a trophy. The tournament was organized by Kalyan Taluka Buddhibal Sanstha and conducted by Thane District Chess Association, between 6th to 7th May 2017 at Metro Junction Mall, Kalyan (East). Around 400 players from different states participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 2,00,000/-.
- Master Ishaan Dabhade, Master Samyak Mohapatra, Master Saurabh Salvi and Master Kshitij Agarwal achieved international rating in “50th late. Shri Babukaka Shirgaokar, International Rating Open Chess Tournament” in Summer Chess Festival – 2017, conducted at Sangli, Maharashtra. Master Ajinkya Chitre and Master Ritesh Prajapati enhanced their ELO rating in the same tournament. Ajinkya enhanced his rating from 1005 to 1086 (81 points). Ritesh enhanced his rating from 1086 to 1110 (24 points). Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (FIDE Instructor & Head Coach). The tournament was conducted between 7th to 12th May 2017. 220 players from different states participated in this event. Total prize fund for tournament was Rupees 5,00,000/-.
- Master Aditya Ajay Patil and Miss Vaibhavi Palkar achieved international rating in Maharashtra State Under 13 Open and Girls Selection FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2017. Master Ritesh Prajapati enhanced his ELO rating from 1110 to 1160 (50 points). Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Rahul Joshi (Assistant Coach). The tournament was conducted between 27th May to 31st May 2017 at Tilak Road, Nehru Stadium, Pune. Around 400 players (300 in Open Group and 100 in Girls Group) from different districts participated in this event.
- Master Laukik Pangshe secured 4th place in 1st Open Rapid Chess Championship 2017 at Shahapur. Laukik scored 5 points out of 6 games. He was rewarded with Cash Prize of Rupees 1500/-. The tournament was organized by Elixir Academy, Shahpur and conducted by Thane District Chess Association on 28th May 2017 (Sunday). Master Mayuresh Barve secured 14th place in the same tournament. He scored 4 points out of 6 games. He was rewarded with Cash Prize of Rupees 500/-. Around 70 players participated in this tournament. Total prize fund for tournament was Rupees 21,000/-.
- Master Laukik Panghe secured 20th place in 20th Late Shri V.G. Vaze Memorial Open Rapid Tournament 2017. He scored 7 points out of 9 games. Laukik was rewarded with a Cash Prize of Rupees 500/-. The tournament was organized by Dr. Prakash Vaze Sports Foundation, at Maratha Mandal Hall, Mulund (East), Mumbai on 25th June 2017 (Sunday). Around 350 players participated in this event. Total prize fund for tournament was Rupees 40,000/-.
- Mr. Abhijit Joshi (FIDE Instructor &Head Coach of the academy) achieved the title of Senior National Arbiter in FIDE (World Chess Federation) Arbiter Seminar conducted at New Delhi, between 4th to 6th July 2017. This will contribute to enhance the standard of the academy. Thirty seven participants from different states of India participated in this event. Prof. R. Anatharam (International Arbiter, FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Councillor and FIDE Lecturer) and M.S. Gopakumar (International Arbiter, Assistant Lecturer) were appointed by FIDE as lecturers for this program.
- Master Aditya Ajay Patil secured 4th place in under 14 years age group in DSO (District Level) interschool chess tournament held at NKT School, Thane (West), on 15th & 16th September 2017. This tournament was open for students of all schools from Thane district. He scored 5.5 points out of 6 games. Master Ankur Gokhale and Master Soham Kunte also secured 2nd and 5th place respectively in under 17 years age group category in the same tournament. All three represented Thane District in Zonal Level Tournament. Ankur secured 4th place in under 17 years age group category in zonal tournament conducted in Ulhasnagar on 14th & 15th October 2017. Ankur scored 5 points out of 6 games (5 wins, 1 loss). He represented Mumbai zone in Maharashtra State for Under 17 years age group at Parbhani between 26th to 28th October 2017 . Ankur (Currently studying in 10th Standard) is now entitled to get 15 marks in his 10th standard board exam, which will improve his aggregate.
- Master Om Parab and Master Aayush Shinde achieved international rating in Maharashtra Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2017, held at Mulund, Mumbai, between 30th September to 5th October 2017. Aayush secured 7th place in the category of ‘Best Unrated Players’ and was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 1,000/-. Around 190 players participated in this event. Total prize fund for tournament was Rupees 3,00,000/-.
- 2nd Kings of 64 Square Age Group Rapid Chess Tournament was successfully organized by the coaches of the academy, on 5th November 2017 (Sunday) at Shreerang Vidyalaya, Near Castle Mill, Thane (W). This tournament was open for four age groups i.e. under -7, 9, 11, & Above 11 (upto 10th Standard). Around 430 participants from Thane District, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Alibag, Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad participated in this event. Total cash prize for this event was Rupees 75,000/- (Rupees 18,750/- in each group). In each group 15 prizes were distributed, so total 60 prizes were distributed. Master Nubair Shah Shaikh (International Master) and Mr. Kapil Jain (Gold Medalist from IIM) were the chief guests for the prize distribution. Cash Prizes were sponsored by Mr. Kapil Jain. Mr. Sachin Rane (Assistant Coach), Mr. Rahul Joshi (Assistant Coach), Mr. Rupesh Sawant (Assistant Coach), Mr. Pratik Agrawal (Assistant Coach), Mr. Shyam Kapoor (Assistant Coach) Mr. Bala Gawas, and Mr. Amol Dangche took great efforts to make this event successful. 1st Open Championship Rapid Chess Tournament was also successfully organized by the coaches of the academy, on the same day, in association with Kairali Cultural Association. Around 90 participants from Thane District, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and nearby areas participated in this event. This tournament was open for all. Total cash prize for this event was Rupees 30,000/-. Total 40 prizes (25 cash prizes + 15 medals) were distributed.
- The academy successfully organized ‘Sukur Championship Age group Rapid chess tournament’ on 17th Deceber 2017 (Sunday) at Sukur Residency Clubhouse, Kavesar, Ghodbunder Road, Thane (W). This tournament was open for four age groups i.e. under – 7, 9, 11, & Above 11 (upto 10th Standard). Total 140 participants from different batches of the academy participated in this event. In each group 15 prizes (7 for Boys + 3 for Girls + 5 combined) were distributed, so total 60 prizes (40 Trophies + 20 Medals) were distributed. Mr. Shyam Kapoor (Assistant Coach), Mr. Rahul Joshi (Assistant Coach), Mr. Rupesh Sawant (Assistant Coach), Mr. Pratik Agrawal (Assistant Coach) and Mr. Sachin Rane (Assistant Coach) took great efforts to makes this event successful.
