Achievements in 2014
- More than 90 prizes won by different students of Academy in various Open and Age Group competitions organized at various places in Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.
- Master Ankur Gokhale enhanced his international rating from 1493 to 1546 (53 points) in National Amateur Chess Championship 2014. The tournament was organized and conducted by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli, between 27th January 2014 to 1st February 2014. Around 400 players participated in this event.
- Master Samyak Mohapatra secured 4th place in Late Shri Tammannacharya Padsalgikar Tournament (Open for players below 8 years). He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 800/-. Samyak scored 5 points out of 7 games. The tournament was organized and conducted by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli, between 4th to 7th May 2014. Around 35 players participated in this event.
- Master Parth Dixit secured 6th place in Late Sou. Leelabai Deshpande Tournament (Open for players below 10 years). He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 600/-. Parth scored 5 points out of 7 games (4 wins, 2 draws and 1 lost). The tournament was organized and conducted by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli, between 8th to 11th May 2014. Around 80 players participated in this event.
- Miss Aditi Iyer Secured 1st Place in under 10 years age group in 10th Late Sou. Meenatai Shirgaonkar Memorial International FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rating Woman's Open Chess Tournament. The tournament was open only for ladies. Aditi was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 700/-. Aditi scored 5.5 points out of 10 games. The tournament was organized and conducted by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli, between 25th to 29th May 2014. Around 120 players participated in this event.
- Master Ankur Gokhale (Date of Birth - 25/11/2002) secured 17th rank in Maharashtra State Selection tournament for under 15 years. He also enhanced his international rating from 1538 to 1555 (17 points) in the same tournament. Ankur scored 7 points out of 10 games. The tournament was organized by Pune District Chess Circle, Pune, between 23rd to 28th April 2014. Around 200 players participated in this event.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 1st rank in Under - 13 years age group in ICS (Indian Chess School) FIDE Rating tournament (Open for Internationally Rated Players only). He also enhanced his international rating from 1555 to 1580 (25 points) in the same tournament. Ankur scored 5.5 points out of 9 games. Master Laukik Pangshe also enhanced his international rating from 1307 to 1337 (30 points) in the same tournament. The tournament was organized by Indian Chess School, Mumbai, between 8th to 15th May 2014 at Thakur College of Science & Commerce, Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai. Around 350 players participated in this event.
- Master Jenil Shah enhanced his international rating from 1688 to 1713 (25 points) in 7th Mumbai Mayors Cup International Open Chess Tournament (Category - "B" Open for rating below 2000). He scored 6 points out of 10 games. Master Arya Nirag Shah achieved international rating by completing his rating performance in the same tournament by scoring 2.5 points against 8 rated players with one win and three draws. The tournament was organized by Venus Chess Academy in association with National Sports Club of India, between 2nd to 5th June 2014 at Thakur College of Science & Commerce, Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai. Around 300 players participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 7,70,000/-.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 13th rank in 7th Mumbai Mayors Cup International Open Chess Tournament (Category - "C" Open for rating below 1559). He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 8,000/-. He also enhanced his international rating from 1580 to 1585 (5 points) in the same tournament. Ankur scored 7 points out of 9 games (7 wins, 2 lost). Mr. Gaurav Kumar (Senior Assistant Coach) secured 29th rank in the same tournament by scoring 6.5 points out of 9 games (5 wins, 3draws and 1 loss). Gaurav was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-. He also enhanced his international rating from 1551 to 1565 (14 points). Miss Kishita Dhargawe achieved international rating by completing her rating performance in the same tournament by scoring 0.5 points against 5 rated players. She scored 2.5 points earlier in Sou. Meenatai Shirgaokar FIDE Rating open tournament (Open for women only). The tournament was organized by Venus Chess Academy, between 6th to 9th June 2014 at Thakur College of Science & Commerce, Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai. Around 350 players participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 5,30,000/-.
- Master Laukik Pangshe enhanced his international rating from 1337 to 1377 (40 points) in Maharashtra State Junior Boys (Under - 19 years) Chess Championship 2014. Players residing in Maharashtra State and born on or after 1-1- 1995 were eligible to participate in the tournament. Laukik scored 5 points out of 9 games (4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses). The tournament was organized by Pune District Chess Circle, between 10th to 14th June 2014 at P.E. Society's Hall (Modern College), Shivaji Nagar, Pune. More than 150 players participated in this event.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 1st rank in Under - 13 years age group in All India FIDE Rating below 2200 chess tournament, conducted at Vadodara. The tournament was open for Internationally Rated Players below 2200 rating only. He also enhanced his international rating from 1585 to 1643 (58 points) in the same tournament. Ankur scored 6.5 points out of 9 games. The tournament was organized and conducted by Vadodara Chess Association, between 26th to 29th July 2014 at Hotel Surya, Sayajigunj, Vadodara. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 1,00,000/-. Around 300 players participated in this event.
- Mr. Gaurav Kumar (Senior Assistant Coach) secured 39th rank in 2nd Specific Chess International Rating Tournament 2014. The tournament was open for Internationally Rated Players below 1600 rating only. He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-. He also enhanced his international rating from 1565 to 1569 (4 points) in the same tournament. Gaurav scored 7 points out of 10 games (7 wins, 3 lost). The tournament was organized by Grandmasters Chess Academy, Delhi between 18th to 21st August 2014, at Major Dhyanchand National Stadium, India Gate, New Delhi. More than 450 players participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 7,50,000/-.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 17th rank in 'Principal Arunrao Kalode Memorial - Maharashtra State Under 13 Open FIDE Rating Tournament - 2014'. Players residing in Maharashtra State and born on or after 1-1- 2001 were eligible to participate in the tournament. Ankur scored 6 points out of 9 games (5 wins, 2 draws and 2 lost). The tournament was organised by Nagpur Chess Academy, Nagpur, between 24th to 28th August 2014 at Gulmohar Hall, Khamla, Nagpur. More than 200 players participated in this event.
- Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach of the Academy) secured 21st place in J &K Police Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament (For Below 2000 rated players). He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 3000/-. The tournament was organized by Jammu District Chess Association and conducted between 1st to 4th October 2014 at, M.A. Stadium (Indoor Hall), Jammu. Around 125 players from 15 states participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 3,00,000/-.
- Master Laukik Pangshe enhanced his international rating from 1377 to 1447 (70 points) in Maharashtra State Under - 25 years Chess Championship 2014. Players residing in Maharashtra State and born on or after 1-1-1989 were eligible to participate in the tournament. Laukik scored 5.5 points out of 9 games (5 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses). The tournament was organized by Mumbai Suburban District Chess Association (MSDCA) between 1st to 5th October 2014 at, Thakur College of Science & Commerce, Thakur Village, Kandivali (East), Mumbai. Around 150 players participated in this tournament.
- Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach of the Academy) was felicitated by Rotary Club Of Thane Midtown on 10th October 2014 (Friday) at Shreerang Vidyalaya, Thane (W), for his phenomenal contribution in the field of Chess.
- Miss Surucha Shanbhag secured Best SES (Saraswati Education Society) Player in 1st Pataskar Rapid Rating Open Chess Tournament. Miss Aditi Iyer secured 2nd rank in Under - 11 years Girls, Master Ankur Gokhale secured 1st rank in Under - 13 years Boys age group and Miss Kishita Dhargawe secured 3rd rank in Under - 13 years Girls age group in the same tournament. Surucha was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 1,000/-. Aditi, Ankur and Kishita was rewarded with trophies. Ankur enhanced his international rapid rating from 1531 to 1568 (37 points). The tournament was organized by Thane District Chess Association (TDCA) and hosted by Saraswati Education Society's School, Pachpakhadi, Thane (W), on 29th and 30th November, 2014. More than 325 players from different states of India participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 1,60,000/-.
- Master Ankur Gokhale enhanced his international rapid rating from 1568 to 1592 (24 points) in 1st Shri Neeraj Gawale Rapid Rating Open Chess Tournament 2014. The tournament was organized by Ajaipal Mangal and Company, conducted by Thane District Chess Association (TDCA), on 6th and 7th December, 2014, at Town Hall, Court Naka, Thane (W). More than 300 players from different states of India participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rs. 1,01,101/-
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 14th rank in 1st All India Open International FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rating Chess Tournament (Open for - Upto 10th Standard). He was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 3,000/-. He scored 7 points out of 9 games (7 wins, 2 lost). The tournament was organized by SMCA (South Mumbai Chess Association), King's Chess Academy and Astitva Prabodhini, between 24th to 28th December 2014 at N.M. Joshi Municipal School, Lower Parel (E), Mumbai. Around 300 players participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 2,01,000/-.
- We have enlarged our activities by opening new venues at Creative Kids Nursery, Sudama Nagar, MIDC, Dombivali, (East) and Swami Vivekanand Vidyamandir, Gandhi Nagar, Dombivali, (East) for the convenience and request of local people. These batches are independently handled by Senior Assistant Coach Mr. Rupesh Sawant.
