Achievements in 2015
- More than 120 prizes won by different students of Academy in various Open and Age Group competitions organized at various places in Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 3rd rank in 1st Maharastra State Schools Chess Championship 2015 (Open for Players under 13 years). He scored 7 points out of 9 games (5 Wins and 4 Draws). The tournament was organized by Indian Chess School, Mumbai, between 9th to 11th January 2015 at Rustomjee Cambridge International School, J.S. Road, Dahisar (West), Mumbai. Around 70 players participated in this event.
- Master Atharva Karawade secured 7th place in Late Adv. Abasaheb Ganu tournament (Open for players below 12 years). He was rewarded with a cash prize. The tournament was organized and conducted by Nutan Buddhibal Mandal, Sangli, between 8th May to 10th May 2015. Atharva scored 5 points out of 7 games (3 wins and 4 draws). Master Anish Barve secured 11th place in the same tournament by scoring 4.5 points out of 7 games. Around 60 players participated in this event.
- Mr. Rahul Joshi (Assistant Coach), Master Atharva Karawade, Master Anish Barve, Master Vineet Bhole and Master Atharva Durgvale achieved international rating in "48th late. Shri Babukaka Shirgaokar, International Rating Open Chess Tournament" in Summer Chess Festival- 2015, conducted at Sangli, Maharashtra. Master Ameya Chitre and Master Laukik Pangshe enhanced their ELO rating in the same tournament. Ameya enhanced his rating from 1343 to 1363 (20 points) and Laukik enhanced his rating from 1447 to 1477 (30 points). The tournament was conducted between 11th to 17th May 2015. Total prize fund for tournament was Rs. 2,00,000/-. Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Head Coach).
- Master Bhavesh Karnik secured 12th rank in Maharashtra State Selection tournament for under 17 years - 2015. Bhavesh enhanced his international rating from 1596 to 1610 (14 points) in the same tournament. He scored 6 points out of 9 games. The tournament was organized and conducted by Thane District Chess Association, at St. Laurence School, Wagle Estate, Thane (West), between 21st to 25th May 2015. Total 150 players from different districts participated in this event.
- Master Jenil Shah achieved 1st rank in under 20 years age group, in 8th Mumbai Mayors Cup International Open Chess Tournament (Category - "B" Open for rating below 2000) 2015. He scored 6.5 points out of 10 games. Jenil enhanced his international rating from 1675 to 1702 (27 points) in the same tournament. Jenil was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 10,000/-. The tournament was organized by Venus Chess Academy and conducted by Bombay Chess Association, between 2nd to 5th June 2015 at Goregaon Sports Club, Link Road, Malad (West), Mumbai. Around 250 players from different countries participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 7,70,000/-.
- Mater Aditya Bhide, Master Soham Kunte, Master Ritesh Prajapati, achieved international rating in 8th Mumbai Mayors Cup International Open Chess Tournament (Category - "C" Open for rating below 1600) 2015. Master Vineet Bhole enhanced his international rating from 1165 to 1170 (5 points) in the same tournament. The tournament was organized by Venus Chess Academy and conducted by Bombay Chess Association, between 6th to 9th June 2015 at Goregaon Sports Club, Link Road, Malad (West), Mumbai. More than 400 players participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 5,30,000/-.
- Master Bhavesh Karnik secured 14th rank in 18th Late Shri V. G. Vaze Memorial Open Rapid Chess tournament. Bhavesh scored 7 points out of 9 games (7 Wins and 2 Losses). The tournament was organized by Dr. Prakash Vaze Sports Foundation and conducted by Bombay Chess Association, at Maratha Mandal Hall, Mulund (East), on 21st June 2015 (Sunday). Bhavesh was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 600/-. Total 200 players participated in this event.
- Master Siddharth Kher achieved international rating in Maharashtra State Under 13 Boys Selection FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2015. Mater Atharva Karawade and Master Soham Kunte enhanced their ELO rating in the same tournament. Atharva enhanced his rating from 1212 to 1237 (25 points) and Soham enhanced his rating from 1063 to 1095 (32 points). The tournament was organized and conducted by Buddhibal Kreeda Trust, Pune, between 4th to 8th July 2015 at Manohar Mangal Karyalaya, Erandawana, Pune. More than 200 players from different districts participated in this event. Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Gaurav Kumar (Assistant Coach).
- The academy, in association with Rotaract Club of Kalyan (West), successfully organized 'Age group rapid chess tournament' on 19th July 2015 at Shishu Vikas School, Kalyan (West). This tournament was open for four age groups i.e. under - 8, 10, 12 & Above 12 years (upto 10th Standard). More than 120 participants from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas participated in this event. Total cash prize for this event was 13,000/-. In each group 10 prizes were distributed, so total 40 prizes (12 trophies + 28 Medals) were distributed. Mr. Rupesh Sawant (Assistant Coach) took great effort to makes this event successful.
- Master Aniruddha Oak achieved 1st rank in below 1700 rating category, in "1st All India Open FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rating Chess Tournament" at Nashik. He scored 7 points out of 9 games (6 Wins, 2 Draws and 1 Loss). Aniruddha was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 11,000/-. Aniruddha enhanced his international rating from 1603 to 1606 (3 points) in the same tournament. The tournament was organized by Resha Associates, Nashik, between 25th to 29th July 2015 at Navrang Hall, Panchavati, Nashik. Aniruddha secured 19th place amongst 325 players. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 2,50,000/-.
- The academy successfully organized '1st Inter Academy Age group Rapid chess tournament' on 20th December 2015 (Sunday) at Little Angel's High School, Kasarwadavali, Ghodbunder Road, Thane (W). This tournament was open for five age groups i.e. under - 6, 8, 10, 12 & 14 years. Total 150 participants from ten batches participated in this event. In each group 10 prizes (7 for Boys + 3 for Girls) were distributed, so total 51 prizes (35 Trophies for Boys + 15 Trophies for Girls + 1 Trophy for Youngest Girl) were distributed. In addition to this, each participant in below six years was given medal, sponsored by Mr. Shyam Kapoor (Assistant Coach). Mr. Rahul Joshi (Assistant Coach) and Mr. Rupesh Sawant (Assistant Coach) took great efforts to makes this event successful.
- Master Jenil Shah achieved 15th rank in "1st RBK - All India Open Chess FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rating Chess Tournament" at Chembur, Mumbai. He scored 7 points out of 9 games (7 Wins and 2 Losses). Jenil enhanced his international rating from 1702 to 1725 (23 points). Jenil was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 5,000/-. Master Soham Kunte achieved 2nd rank in ‘Below 1200 rating category', in the same tournament. Soham enhanced his rating from 1095 to 1211 (116 points). Soham was rewarded with a cash prize of Rupees 3,500/-. The tournament was organized by Institute for Chess Excellence and conducted by Bombay Chess Association, between 21st to 25th December 2015 at RBK International Academy, Ghatkopar Mankhurd Link Road, Indian Oil Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai. More than 300 players from different states participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 3,00,000/-.
