Achievements in 2019
- More than 130 prizes won by different students of Academy in various Open and Age Group competitions organized at various places in Thane District, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.
- Master Ankur Gokhale Secured 8th place in 2nd Dombivali Kalyan All India Open International FIDE Rating Classical Tournament 2019, held at Metro Mall, Kalyan between 29th January to 3rd February 2019. He scored 7.5 points out of 10 games, with 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. Total 250 players participated in the event from all over India and abroad. Ankur was awarded with a Certificate + Cash prize of Rupees 5000/-. He also enhanced his international rating by 48 points (from 1628 to 1676). The tournament was organized by Anant Vaze Sangeet, Kala & Kreeda Pratishthan & Atharva Chess Academy, Kalyan. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 3,03,000/-.
- Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & Senior National Arbiter) achieved the title of FIDE (World Chess Federation) Arbiter in 1st quarter Presidential Board meeting of World Chess Federation, conducted between 4th to 6th March 2019, at Astana, Kazakhstan.
- Master Ankur Gokhale secured 6th place in Mr. Satish Sabnis Open Rapid Chess Tournament held at, Bandra on 7th April 2019 (Sunday). He was awarded with Cash Prize of Rupees 7000/- and a memento. Ankur scored 7.5 points out of 9 games, with 7 wins, 1 draw & 1 loss. He won with two higher rated players Arun Pandit (International Rating 2041) and Aniruddha Deshpande (International Rating 2161) and had a draw against Snehal Bhosale (International Rating 2033). Around 244 players from Thane District, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 1,59,000/-.
- Master Neel Jain secured 3rd place in ‘Best Unrated Players Category’ in 3rd Late Bhartbai Halkude Memorial FIDE Rating Tournament 2019 held at Pune between 29th April to 2nd May 2019. He was rewarded with a Trophy + Certificate + Cash Prize of Rupees 10,000/-. Neel achieved FIDE International Rating of 1400+, which is considered as a very strong initial Rating. Master Ankur Gokhale secured 2nd place in ‘Best AMCA (All Marathi Chess Association) Player Category’ (Best Maharashtra Player) in the same tournament. He was rewarded with Trophy + Certificate + Cash Prize of Rupees 3,000/-. Ankur also enchanced his FIDE International Elo rating by 86 points (from 1677 to 1764). He scored 6 points out of 8 games. (5 wins, 2 Draw & 1 loss). Ankur drew against International Master Arun Vaidya (Maharashtra) & Women FIDE Master Cholleti Sahajasri (Telangana). He won against International Master & FIDE Senior Trainer Sahu Sekhar Chandra (Odissa). He lost only one game against International Master Viani Antonio Dcunha (Karnataka). Miss Vibha Navare secured 5th place in Under 11 Girls in the same tournament. Vibha was rewarded with Certificate & Trophy. She also achieved FIDE International Rating in the same tournament. Master Ritesh Prajapati & Master Shaunak Dhamnaskar enchanced their FIDE International Rating by 13 and 24 points respectively in the same tournament. Around 475 players from different states participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 9,00,001/-. Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (FIDE Instructor, FIDE Arbiter, Founder & Head Coach of Academy), Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & FIDE Arbiter).
- Master Pranav Ramesh secured 3rd place in Late Shri Tammannacharya Padsalgikar – under – 8 years open chess tournament, in 52nd Summer Chess Festival – 2019, conducted at Sangli, Maharashtra. He scored 6 points out of 7 games (6 wins & 1 loss). He was rewarded with Trophy & Certificate + Cash Prize of Rupees 2000/-. Master Ishaan Patil secured 4th place in the same He scored 5.5 points out of 7 games (5 wins, 1 draw & 1 loss). He was rewarded with Trophy & Certificate + Cash Prize of Rupees 1,000/-. Master Samyak Thombare secured 6th place in the same tournament. He scored 5 points out of 7 games (5 wins & 2 draws). He was rewarded with Trophy & Certificate + Cash Prize of Rupees 500/-. Master Smyan Akuskar secured 9th place in the same tournament. He scored 5 points out of 7 games. He was rewarded with Trophy & Certificate. The tournament was conducted on 10th & 11th May 2019. In this age group there were around 60 participants from different states. Players were accompanied and guided by Mr. Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & FIDE Arbiter).
- Master Aarush Budjade secured 10th place in late Sou Leelabai R. Deshpande Memorial under – 10 years open chess tournament, in 52nd Summer Chess Festival – 2019, conducted at Sangli, Maharashtra. He scored 5 out of 7 points (5 wins, 2 losses). Aarush was rewarded with Trophy & Certificate. The tournament was conducted on 12th & 13th May 2019. In this age group there were around 64 participants from different states. Aarush was accompanied and guided by Mr. Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & FIDE Arbiter).
- Master Ankur Gokhale Secured 3rd place in 1st Open Gaura Chess Champion Rapid Chess Tournament - 2019 held at Country Club, Andheri on 12th May 2019. He scored 7 points out of 9 games. (5 Wins & 4 Draws). Ankur was unbeaten in the tournament. He was rewarded with Trophy, Certificate + a cash prize of Rupees 4,000/-. Total 188 players from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and nearby areas participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 45,000/-.
- Rahul Joshi (Senior Trainer of Academy) enhanced his Elo FIDE International Rating in 2nd Goa GM Chess Tournament 2019 (Category B) held at Goa, between 18th to 21st June 2019. He was accompanied & guided by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (FIDE Instructor & FIDE Arbiter & Founder of Academy). Around 400 players from different countries participated in this event. Total cash prize for this category was Rupees 16,00,000/-.
- Rupesh Sawant (Senior Trainer of Academy, National Instructor & Senior National Arbiter) achieved the title of FIDE (World Chess Federation) Arbiter in 2nd quarter Presidential Board meeting of World Chess Federation, conducted between 27th to 30th June 2019, at Baku, Azerbaijan.
- Sachin Rane (Senior Trainer of Academy & Senior National Arbiter) & Mr. Bhavesh Karnik (Senior Player of Academy & Senior National Arbiter) both achieved their title of FIDE (World Chess Federation) Arbiter in 3rd quarter Presidential Board meeting of World Chess Federation, conducted between 7th and 8th September 2019, at Budapest, Hungary.
- Master Laukik Pangshe (Senior Student of Our Academy) Secured 7th place in Open Rapid Below 1600 Chess tournament 2019, held at Metro Mall, Kalyan on 22nd September 2019. He scored 5.5 points out of 7 games (5 wins, 1 draw & 1 loss). Laukik was rewarded with Cash Prize of Rupees 1000/-. 114 players from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and nearby areas participated in this tournament. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 22,000/-.
- Mr Jenil Shah (Senior Student of Our Academy) secured 1st place in War of Wits Rapid chess tournament organized by Victorious Chess Academy held on 13th October 2019 (Sunday) at Pune. He scored 6.5 points out of 7 games (6 wins & 1 draw with Chinmay Kulkarni, Elo FIDE Rating 2295). He was unbeaten in the Tournament. Jenil was rewarded with Trophy + Cash Prize of Rupees 11,000/-. The tournament was exclusively organized for IT Professionals (IT Corporate Event).
- Anil Nalawade (Assistant Coach of Academy), Mr. Pratik Agrawal (Assistant Coach of Academy) & Mr. Aniruddha Oak (Senior Player of Academy), attained the title of Senior National Arbiter. All of them attended FIDE ARBITER Seminar held at World Youth Event, Powai, Mumbai between 7th to 9th October 2019. All the three participants successfully passed the exam. We are now proud to announce that Academy is having Eight Qualified Titled Arbiters (5 FIDE ARBITER + 3 Senior National Arbiter) + Three Certified Titled Coaches from FIDE (World Chess Federation).
- Mater Ankur Gokhale won the Open Blitz Championship 2019 held at Metro Mall, Kalyan on 10th November 2019. He finished 1st in the tournament ahead of many strong and higher rated players. Ankur scored 6 points out of 7 games (5 Wins & 2 draws). He was unbeaten in the tournament. He was rewarded with Trophy & Cash Prize of Rupees 3,000/-.
- Abhijit Joshi (Founder of Joshi's Chess Academy) was facilitated by Rotary Club of Thane North on the occasion of Rochess Rapid Chess Tournament at Shrirang Vidyalaya on 17th November 2019, for his contribution & dedication in the field of chess for last 12 years. He was rewarded with a memento. Mr. Siddharth Venkatesh (Highest FIDE Rated & 1st International Rated player of Academy) secured 7th place in the same tournament, in Open Category. He scored 4 points out of 6 games. Siddharth was rewarded with Cash prize of Rupees 1000/- & Certificate. Around 60 players from Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas participated in open category. Master Ankur Gokhale (Senior Student of Joshi's Chess Academy) secured ‘Best performer in Below 1600 Category’ prize in the same tournament. He scored 4 points out of 6 games. Ankur was rewarded with Cash prize of Rupees 1000/- & Certificate.
- Master Laukik Pangshe won 1st Prize in Below 1600 Rapid Chess tournament 2019 held at Panvel on 25th December 2019. Laukik scored 6.5 points out of 7 games (6 Wins, 1 Draw). He was unbeaten in the tournament. Laukik was rewarded with a Cash Prize of Rupees 5,000/- & Trophy. Players from Panvel, Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas participated in this event. Total cash prize for this tournament was Rupees 20,000/-.
- Master Ankur Gokhale enhanced his international rating from 1731 to 1795 (64 Points) in Bhopal International GM Tournament - 2019. The tournament was conducted between 21st to 28th December 2019, at Hotel Kanta Shrawan Palace, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The tournament was organized by Academy of Chess Education, Bhopal & Sports & Youth Welfare Department, MP. In 2nd round Ankur had a draw against Grand Master Czebe Attila (Current Rating 2374) from Hungary. He also had a draw against Ayush Jha (Current Rating 1929) of West Bengal in 6th Round. Ankur won against Adalja Vanssh A (Current Rating 1469) of Gujarat in 4th Round, Ashwin Daniel (Current Rating 1941) of MP in 5th Round and Akhilesh Nagare (Current Rating 1918) of Maharashtra in 7th Round. 260 players from 15 Federation participated in this tournament.
