Joshi's Chess Academy

About Us

Joshi's Chess Academy is a group of world chess federation certified coaches, headed by Mr. Abhijit Joshi (FIDE Instructor, FIDE Arbiter & Head Coach). We have students enrolled from 9 different countries (Canada, US, UK, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Quatar, Muscat & Australia) in our training programs. At present we have 3 FIDE (World Chess Federation) Certified Trainers and 7 FIDE Certified Arbiters working with our academy. Here is a brief information about coaches of the academy.

A.Joshi

Mr. Abhijit Joshi (Principal Coach of Joshi's Chess Academy)

  • Founder of Joshi's Academy and full time professional chess coach since 2002, i.e. for more than twenty years with currently more than 350 students learning chess in the academy.
  • He achieved the title of FIDE Instructor in FIDE (World Chess Federation) Trainer Seminar conducted at KIIT University, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, between 17 th to 19 th August 2016.
  • Achieved the title of FIDE Arbiter at the FIDE (World Chess Federation) Arbiters Seminar held at New Dehli from 4th to 6th July 2017.
  • He attained the title of MCA (Maharashtra Chess Association) - CIS (Chess In Schools) Grade II School Trainer in training camp which was held at St. Stanislaus High school, Bandra (West), Mumbai, on 29th and 30th December 2013.
  • Felicitated by Rotary Club Of Thane Midtown on the occasion of 'vocational service week', with a memento, as a token of appreciation for phenomenal contribution in the field of Chess on 10 th October 2014 (Friday) at Shreerang Vidyalaya, Thane (W).
As a Player:
  • An internationally rated player, with highest ELO rating - 1878.
  • He was the Silver medalist of N.G. Bedekar College of commerce,Thane (Mumbai), in 2000.
  • He has enough experience of participating in international rating events and various other tournaments.
R.Sawant

Mr. Rupesh Sawant

  • An internationally rated chess player and working with the academy for the last thirteen years.
  • Achieved the title of National Instructor at FIDE (World Chess Federation) Trainers Seminar held at New Delhi on 7th to 9th July 2017.
  • Achieved the title of FIDE Arbiter at the FIDE Arbiter seminar (Hyderabad) from 8th to 10th September 2018.
  • He attained the title of MCA (Maharashtra Chess Association) - CIS (Chess In Schools) Grade II School Trainer in training camp which was held at St. Stanislaus High school, Bandra (West), Mumbai, on 29th and 30th December 2012.
R.Joshi

Mr. Rahul Joshi

  • An internationally rated chess player and working with the academy for the last nine years.
  • Achieved the title of National Instructor at FIDE (World Chess Federation) Trainers Seminar held at New Delhi on 7th to 9th July 2017.
  • Achieved the title of FIDE Arbiter at the FIDE Arbiter seminar (Hyderabad) from 8th to 10th September 2018.
  • He attained the title of MCA (Maharashtra Chess Association) - CIS (Chess In Schools) Grade II School Trainer in training camp which was held at Sangli on 25 th , 26 th and 27 th May 2015.
S.Rane

Mr. Sachin Rane

  • Working with the academy for the last six years.
  • Has enough experience of training students from five to fifteen years.
  • Secured the title of AICF (All India Chess Federation) Trainer for Chess in Schools in 2021.
  • Achieved the title of Senior National Arbiter at the FIDE Arbiter seminar (Hyderabad) from 8th to 10th September 2018.

Mr. Shrikant Joshi

  • Working with the academy for the last 19 years.
  • Has enough experience of training students from five to ten years.
  • He covers group of students of level Ⅰ
  • He tries to develop interest and involves the young students in the game.
H.Rane

Mr. Hemant Rane

  • Working with the academy for the last four years.
  • Secured the title of AICF (All India Chess Federation) Trainer for Chess in Schools in 2021.
  • Achieved the title of State Arbiter at the State Arbiter seminar (Mumbai), which was conducted between 23rd and 24th March 2019.
  • Has enough experience of training students from five to fifteen years.
M.Barve

  • An internationally rated chess player working with the academy for the last five years.
  • Has enough experience of training students from five to fifteen years.
S.Kapoor

Mr. Shyam Kapoor

  • Working with the academy for the last six years.
  • Has enough experience of training students from five to ten years.
